Valentines Day gift Ideas for him (under £20)

This is the second instalment of the valentines day gift guide, the first part was gifts that you could get the special lady in your life, you can read it here if you missed it. This time it’s the mens turn! I think men can be harder to buy for on valentines day as they just tend not to appreciate the fluffy, cute heart covered stuff! Even harder if you don’t want to spend a lot but you still want to get them something nice, so I’ve made sure everything in my guide is under £20.

Valentines Day gift ideas under £20 for her

With January coming to an end, February is only just round the corner and with February comes Valentines day! I’m not a big celebrator of Valentines day as I don’t really count it as a proper holiday, but it’s nice to have a day purely about celebrating love :).

I don’t tend to spend a lot on presents for Valentines day (a lot of the time I like to make something, which tbh means a lot more to the bf than a bear holding a heart from a card shop :p), so I’ve put together a list of some gift ideas, all of which are under £20!

So if you’re stuck on what to get your girlfriend, wife or your crush, hopefully this will help! (or send it to them to give them a not so subtle hint :p)

MeMeMe Cherub Blush - Cheek and lip tint

MeMeMe Cherub Blush - Cheek and lip tint

I received this full size (12ml) bottle of MeMeMe’s Cherub’s blush lip tint in a Glossybox last year sometime, I’ve only just got round to testing it out! Whoops! I don’t own any liquid tints so was intrigued to see how well it would work in comparison to normal blushes.

January Glossybox

January Glossybox

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the beauty box concept. For those that aren’t, you subscribe and pay around £10 (plus P&P) a month in return for a box filled with around five luxury products and samples. At the beginning of last year I subscribed to both Glossybox and Birchbox for three months so I could decide which one to continue to subscribe to for the rest of the year. Short version is Glossybox won (mainly due to the fact I got frustrated when I saw loads of other people receiving the beauty blender in the March box and I received a body lotion in its place = one unimpressed Jenny lol).

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Collection Privée Eva Barely Golden

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Collection Privée Eva Barely Golden

I don’t know about you but I struggle to find nude lipsticks that suit me. I don’t have a weird skin tone or anything, I think I just never really knew what would really suit me. I hate the no lips nude look, I’d rather have a my lips but better kind of lipstick. Which is why when I saw the L’Oréal stand in boots one day I just had to have one of their Privee tailor made nude lipsticks.

They come in six custom made nude shades chosen by six L’Oréal Paris spokespersons:

  • Cheryl Cole Barely Greig (for those with fair skin with a yellow undertone and mid-dark hair)
  • Doutzen Kroes Barely Pink (for blondes with fair skin tones)
  • Freida Pinto Barely Parma(For those with an amber complexion)
  • Julianne Moore Barely Peach (for those with fair skin tones with blonde or red hair)
  • Eva Longoria Barely Golden (for those with a golden complexion with dark hair)
  • Liya Kebede Barely Moka (for those with darker skin tones)

Benefit’s “the bronze of champions” kit review

A total bronze kit for eyes, lips & cheeks!

Anyone that knows me will know of my love for benefit cosmetics, my favorite mascara (which I shall do a full review on at some point) is Benefit’s “they’re real” mascara. So when I received this box of little gems from my boyfriends Mum I was more than a little bit excited!
The box contains everything you need to look lovely and bronzed, minus foundation though. Saying that I think this kit would be ideal to take away on holiday, especially when you don’t want to wear lots of make up in the sun! Plus it’s so compact that it will save you some room for a few extra bikinis in your luggage, as you really wouldn’t need anything else!

Hawaiian Tropic After sun and Lip glosses

Hawaiian Tropic Aftersun lip gloss
Just had this box of goodies arrive on my desk at work! I had entered Hawaiian Tropic's twitter competition before Christmas, in which you had to upload a holiday picture with the hashtag #HTholidaysnap to @HawaiianT_UK to be in with the chance of winning some aftersun goodies! and guess what? I won!!! :) :) :).
I received two aftersun body butters:
Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Body Butter Exotic Coconut- I love how certain smells can bring back memories, coconut is one of those smells! Instantly on a beach. This smells so lovely and well coconuty. Feels very moisturising! Apparently 12 hours worth of hydration! It's a body butter so it's quite a lot thicker than most after suns.  You can get this in boots for £10.49.
Hawaiian Tropic Lime Coolada Body Butter- This smells so fresh and citrusy! Leaves a lovely scent on your skin after using it too. Being body butters they are so moisturising once they have sunk in, it contains lots of skin loving ingredients including  Aloe Vera, Cocoa, Mango and Shea Butter, Avocado Oil and Vitamins A, C and E. Can't wait for summer to come around so I can try these two properly! You can also get this in Boots for £10.49

Quick pic so you can see the kind of texture it is. Thick and creamy :)
The other two items were both lip glosses, I got two flavours and both smell delicious! I think it will be hard to save these for summer! I feel like they are a hybrid product between a lip balm and a lip gloss, as these offer moisturising qualities you don't normally get in glosses.
Hawaiian Tropic Mango papaya Lip gloss
I'm not a huge fan of the flavour but that's just down to personal preference, it's quite a sharp strong scent. Papaya is definitely the stronger scent out of the two as I normally love mango! The glosses don't have that horrible sticky feel on your lips either and add a subtle hint of colour to your lips. You can get this flavour at feelunique.com for £7.49
Hawaiian Tropic Island berry Lip gloss
This is my favourite out of the two, it smells sweet and fruity. I could literally apply this all day long! It's hard to stop yourself liking it off though! So yummy! Both the lip glosses have sun protection SPF25 in it, which is great! People often forget that your lips need protecting from the sun too! You can get this flavour at boots for £7.49

Here's the pic I won with! Loved snorkelling on holiday this year!

How could you improve on triple chocolate brownies?? With glitter!

We received these lovely offerings from a client at work today! Triple chocolate brownies from Sweet things! They are some delicious and gooey and the glitter sprinkled on top makes them so cute! Hate to think how bad these are for you though...

Lush Christmas range- sale haul! :)

Look what arrived this afternoon!! feels like I've been waiting forever for this little box of goodies to turn up! I don't tend to buy a lot from lush in the year as it can be quite costly, but I can never resist the 50% off Boxing Day sale!
Here's what I got :):

Lush Lip Scrub

image
I was in desperate need for a new lush lip scrub as my mint Julips its ruining out of date this month; so I picked up a santa's lip scrub. Lush's lip scrubs do wonders! They gently exfoliate your lips without any harsh chemicals, plus they are yummy! This one is cola flavour, with cute little edible hearts in it! TIP: Use before applying lipstick as it will give you a smoother base and make your lipstick look better!

Bath bombs

Golden Wonder

I couldn't resist trying one out! I went for the golden wonder in the end as it was sparkly :P. Although the glimmer on the outer layer went everywhere! Anything it touched turned gold! Below in the pic you'll see what happened once I put it in the bath! Was a very pretty bath bomb with lots of different colours coming out at different stages of the fizzing! Plus it fills your bath with lots of tiny gold stars! They disappear though so no hassle when cleaning the bath afterwards!
image
Lush say it smells like a champagne cocktail, but I couldn't really get this from it. It's got orange oil and lime oil in its ingredients and you can definitely smell a citrus hint - not very strong in the bath water but could smell it on my skin afterwards. It makes the water nice and soft, but I can't say I noticed any other effects. Think it's more of a fun visual bath one than one thats really good for your skin.
I don' think you can get these online anymore, but they might still have some in lush stores? Otherwise they might bring it out again at christmas this year. I paid  £1.75 for mine.

Hello 2014

Hello two thousand and fourteen! I've ummmed and aahhhhed over setting up a blog for a long time, but I have finally decided to go for it!

I'm not sure what the main focus will be yet, more than likely beauty biased with maybe some photography designer stuff thrown in as well!
