January Glossybox

January Glossybox

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the beauty box concept. For those that aren’t, you subscribe and pay around £10 (plus P&P) a month in return for a box filled with around five luxury products and samples. At the beginning of last year I subscribed to both Glossybox and Birchbox for three months so I could decide which one to continue to subscribe to for the rest of the year. Short version is Glossybox won (mainly due to the fact I got frustrated when I saw loads of other people receiving the beauty blender in the March box and I received a body lotion in its place = one unimpressed Jenny lol).

Glossybox were awesome, I received a nice variety of skin care, body care and make up from brands I hadn’t heard of and in great size samples. You could tell they really delivered in finding products that us beauty addicts would love. Obviously you might not like all the products in a box but you definitely like at least 3 of them.

January Glossybox

This month Glossybox is different. They’ve had a slight “make over”. The box is, well, glossier, literally. Not something that oozes luxury to be honest, Matt textures tend to look far more premium and I have to say I prefer their old style of boxes. The ribbon inside is thicker, black and now Glossybox branded. I don’t mind this, it’s very luxe but is now not reusable like the bright pink ones were- so they’ll just get binned after opening.

Vaseline Essential Moisture Lotion

Now onto the products, considering these are meant to be luxury samples I was so disappointed to find a Vaseline sample in there, and not even a full size one at that. The product is so well known and inexpensive, it’s not one I’d jump at testing out as I already know what they’re are like.

Yu-Be Moisturising Skin Cream

I’ve actually Received one of these before, not sure if in Glossybox or Birchbox. It’s not really a cream but more of an ointment with a very strong smell. And a very strange smell at that! It’s not something I’d like to put on my face and you feel quite greasy after rubbing it in. I received two very small tubes that even say on them sample size not for resale-so doesn’t feel very luxury there.

Balance Me Super toning body wash

I like the balance me brand as their ingredients are mostly natural. The scent of the body wash is quite strong with a blend of juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavender essential oils. As samples go this is a decent size. Not a wow product but it’s okay and I’ll definitely try it out.

Anatomicals Puffy the eye bag slayer wake-up under eye patches

I’ve received some anatomical products in Glossybox before so I am familiar with the brand, I love their slogans and bright coloured packaging-very cute! I’ve not tested these out yet so they could be useful when I’m feeling I look drained. I feel like they’re just glorified cucumbers though lol! Not a full size sample though.

And finally - The vintage cosmetic company floral slanted tweezers
I like a good pair of tweezers and I have been after a new pair for a while, so I am happy to receive this product. Although I’m not sure they’re worth the £8 price tag.

I don’t feel like there was even a theme to this months box at all, the products don’t seem related. I like it when there is a nice range of face, body and make up items in a box. I don’t feel like it was worth the £10 this time, I’ll give it one more month and if it’s still disappointing I’ll be unsubscribing and switching to Birchbox. I think I'd go as far as saying this is the worst Glossybox I have ever received :(.

How did you feel about this months Glossybox? Did anyone receive any different products?
Does Anyone know of any other UK beauty boxes that are worth subscribing to?

  1. Wow, your blog is so nice! I can't believe how new you are at this, I love the design and your photos =)

I stopped getting GlossyBox bc I was quite disappointed, I kept getting bath/wash stuff which doesn't really interest me at all!

    1. Thank you :), I'm going to try and design a new header at the weekend. I wish we had more beauty box brands in the UK, they started off amazing a couple of years ago!
